Radiational Cooling

Notice that on the morning of April 22, 1995, the temperatures for Harford Emergency Operations Center, and Norrisville Elementary School stayed much higher than the temperatures of Aberdeen and Havre De Grace Middle Schools. This was because the wind speed at Harford Emergency Operations Center and Norrisville remained steady through the morning, whereas the winds at Aberdeen and Havre De Grace dropped off to zero. Sites with very little or no wind during the night (i.e. low lying areas ) will radiate heat into the atmosphere, causing the temperature to drop lower than in surrounding area s effected by the wind.
